Deferred trip

A trip may be deferred for various reasons. Wind and waves can make the crossing extremely uncomfortable and it may even be impossible to dock at the island. The weather situation can change relatively quickly over the Baltic Sea. The deferred travel is decided by the captain of the ship half an hour before scheduled departure from Nynäshamn. This decision also includes departure from Fårösund the same day and will also mean that the return trip from Gotska Sandön is postponed. Should departure be delayed more than 24 hours, you will, if possible be offered the same trip later. See "Booking Terms & Conditions" for further information.

Physical state

On Gotska Sandön there is no harbor. This means that either the boat docks at the beach itself or the passengers disembark on to rubber boats that takes them to the beach. Travelers must have sufficient physical capacity to cope with this reality.

Since there is no port, the boats dock at the island in a suitable place on the island's leeward side. This may mean that the traveler must walk up to ten kilometers on sandy paths in a partly hilly terrain to reach the campsite. The same applies for the return journey. All baggage will be transported by the staff. Travelers must have sufficient physical capacity to cope with these walks.

A visitor on Gotska Sandön must be aware of that there are no health care resources on the island.

Rules of conduct

Keep in mind that Gotska Sandön is a national park and visitors must respect the laws and regulations that apply. Visitors must also follow the instructions given by the staff working on the island.

Note that it is not permitted to bring pets on to the island.
